SCHEMA THERAPY PD
Schema Therapy was developed by Dr. Jeffrey Young for working with personality disorders and other “treatment resistant” psychological disorders. Schema Therapy is an integrative therapy which includes elements of Cognitive, Behavioural, Gestalt and Object Relations Therapy in one unified systematic approach to treatment.
Schemas are deep unconditional beliefs about oneself, one’s relationship to others and one’s relationship to the wider environment; it is the unconditional nature of these beliefs that distinguishes them from ordinary cognitive distortions found in traditional Cognitive Therapy. It involves neurological pathways that connect these beliefs with memories, emotions and behavioural patterns.
“I have been using this approach for the last five years and have found it most helpful in working with complex trauma clients who have extensive emotionally abusive experiences that have shaped their views of themselves and others and are stuck in persistent patterns of thinking and behaving such as people pleasing, perfectionism, self-punitiveness, etc.” – Nand
THE RHYTHM OF REST
Rest is not a luxury but a necessity. With this in mind we will explore the physiological, psychological and theological importance of rest. For us to enter rest we need to make a movement towards it, recognising that each of us have a different rhythm of rest.
This five-hour workshop will equip you with keys towards rest and the importance of integrating rest as part of supervision. Rest is a necessity towards our wellbeing.
Morning and afternoon tea will be provided! We encourage you to bring your lunch with you to maximise your break time.
