There is a process in which precious stones and metals go through before its true value can be appreciated. These precious stones and metals are not easy to find and if anything it is hidden in the darkness. It takes skill, time and effort to find it, then it must go though a transformation process from cleaning, refining, melting, blasting, separating... before it is appreciated for what it is and the possibilities of its use can be understood.
To find things that are precious we must be willing to go fully equiped with light in search of hidden treasure within us. Each of us have gifts and talents that our hidden within us. We all have a purpose and this purpose is precious. In life we go through hardships and challenges, how we respond can keep us in a dark place or can release us into new things and possibilities. Now is the time to turn those hardships into precious treasures that will be beneficial for us and can be a gift to others. The purpose doesn't change its value because of hardship but it can add significant dimensions, skills and talents that increases the value in the gifts within us.
Don't discard your experience; in a safe environment shine light on it, learn from it, heal from it and re-purpose it. If your stuck in the darkness, keep seeking light and apply truth. Truth and light is the process that we must apply to every situation in order to gain understanding. Next time you are in a dark place, be the light. Jesus is the light we need and His truth is liberating.
The key to assertive behaviour is security, which comes from knowing who you are. Those who are insecure are passive or aggressive in behaviour and are driven by fear. They have agendas that are motivated by wanting to be accepted and above all loved. Those who are assertive are confident in who they are and their lives are driven by passion and desire.
Do you know the meaning to your name or why your parents choose the name they did for you? In many cultures names are picked because of specific meanings behind it. They most often than not, when the child is born the pet names get introduced.
So, what's in a name? Does your life reflect the character or meaning of your name? In the Bible we read that God or Jesus changed the names of people and the course of their lives changed. I am not suggesting you change your name, but I am suggesting that you consider the meaning behind your name.
Your name was given to you at birth, not because it reflected who you were. It was too early to tell who you would become. It is not how we start the journey that counts but how we finish it. Yes, how a person start impacts them and it leaves a mark on the individual and can even determine how life is lived. However, how we finish leaves a mark on others.
So, how will you be remembered or more importantly what will you be remembered for? When your name is spoken or uttered what emotions are stirred amongst your family, friends or colleagues? Your name will only make an impact based on your behaviour. Does your behaviour speak volumes about the person you are or hope to be?
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in peace? I am not talking about world peace simply because too many people are involved. I am talking about peace within your mind/soul. Peace resides in ones' soul, no where else. If or when you are at peace (despite the challenges that comes as part of being human) a person is able to rest securely regardless of whether they are having to climb a mountain or walk through the lowest valley. It is a amazing place to be at, yet money can not buy it, nothing can contain it, in its truest form it is only found in having a relationship with Jesus Christ.
So, what a bout truth, I know children and adults alike often fear telling the truth. Have you realised that we fear truth for no reason. Truth has the amazing power to set us free. Free you may be thinking, I have gotten in trouble for telling the truth, a little white lie is better no harm done.... But where does this leave you in the end. Wondering if and when the real story is going to come out, or if/when the real story comes out another lie to cover up the first one and it could go on. If you tell the truth, there might be some pain involved BUT rest assured you will be at peace. Truth is found in your heart/spirit and it something you need to learn to love not hide from
Fear is the number one cause when someone is not at peace or struggles to tell and live the truth. Truth and peace are freeing, it is better than any tonic, wonder drug or anything else you may turn to achieve freedom. Truth and peace are natural relaxants.
Have you ever heard it said that 'where your treasure is there your heart will be", this is a true statement. So, what is it that you treasure? You might be thinking, well I don't have any treasure. Let me put it another way, where is your focus? What captures most of your time and energy - this is your treasure and this is where your heart is. You must have also heard the saying 'not all that glistens is gold'.
How can you tell the difference between true treasure and fake treasure? True treasure brings you peace and contentment. When your focus is on the truth then your heart will be content and your mind will be at peace. If you are focusing on the things of the past, hurts, disappointments even accomplishments that were of the past then, your heart is stuck and you may have lost hope.
If you acknowledge your past but are able to focus on the present (your talents, skills, dreams, desires) and future then you are placing hope within your heart. With hope in your heart your are being daily activated to be a world changer. I encourage you today, to do a stock-take of your treasure chest, get rid of all that is holding you back and release your heart to live!
Have you ever wondered why or who you believe? I have heard people say 'the fact of the matter is - I am a failure, I am looser, there is no point trying any more, no one loves me, I am a idiot, I know nothing.....' the point is the facts that we often come up with is not the truth. We are not always what we live. We portray what we believe about our selves. With the statements we make about our selves who or what do we base these 'facts' or 'truth' on? Lets look at one of these common statements
Here are a couple of facts that are also truths
The doors we walk through in life can usher us into challengers, opportunities, adventures, sticky situations and some can cause us pain. Pain often can be the result of us opening doors to things that we are not aware of and thus can hurt us, this hurt and pain gradually saps life out of us.
The Bible tells us that the doors Jesus Christ opens no one can shut and the doors He closes no one can open. To me this means that Jesus holds the key to the door. The Bible also tells us that Jesus stands at the door to our hearts and knocks. Now if He holds the key, why does He need to knock? Why doesn't He just enter?
I believe this is because initially we have the keys to our heart and the many rooms in our heart, and over the years we choose who and what we let enter. When Jesus stands at the door of our heart and knocks, we can feel scared to let Him in. This is because of the radical changes we so often believe we must make to the way we live. We are good at messing things up all by our selves but we need Jesus to make the changes. All He asks of us is to let Him in to heal and restore us.
Once we let Him in its no good keeping Him waiting at the entrance. We must hand the keys to the rooms within our heart over to Jesus. He uses truth, forgiveness, grace and mercy to make changes to the areas that have been damaged. When Jesus has the keys, He knows what needs to be let in and out. It is important to hand the keys of our heart and the rooms within over to Him.
Now life with Jesus is not a bed of roses, it comes with challenges and at the same time it can be full of adventure. The difference is the person holding the keys to our heart. If you are tired of opening and closing doors that are taking you nowhere, then perhaps it's time you hand over all the keys to Jesus. It is only Jesus Christ who has the ability to take our fear and replace it with peace, to take our sadness and replace it with hope, to take our shame and replace it with self worth, to take our sorrow and replace it with joy.... to take away death and replace it with life.
Have you ever wondered where a particular season in your life would take you? Have you ever been through one of those seasons where you think it's never going to get better and you want to eat warms and die. One of those seasons where no one seems to get it or where no one is listening to you because they went through worse. I hope you are not experiencing one of those seasons in your life. If you are, then I am hoping that you have someone to listen to your story and encourage you not to give up.
The thing I find most useful, regardless of the season, is finding good direction. Seeking solid counsel and direction in life is vital, more so in times where things are uncertain or complex to you. Good direction opens the door to things we may miss because our focus is often shifted when we are down or over excited.
Regardless of the season you are in now, look at what you can learn from it. Keep your focus on where you are going rather than where you have been. Find time to reflect on all that is good in your life. Remember that God who holds the universe in His hand, will hold you; with your permission.
